Corporate Council on Africa convened leaders from the diplomatic community, government, and private sector on March 6, 2026, to celebrate International Women's Day and highlight the critical role women play in strengthening U.S.–Africa economic relations. The permanent of the African Union to the United States, Ambassador Constancia Gaspar as well as Ambassador Davies Ba the former U.S Ambassador to Cote D’Ivoire emphasized that advancing women’s economic empowerment is central to inclusive growth and deeper trade partnerships, particularly as women make up a significant share of entrepreneurs and informal cross-border traders across Africa.
